For the last 10+ years I have stayed away from spanx products as I remember them being bulky and tight, reminding me of a binding feeling corset like in the old movies. I discontinued use since I was told it was unhealthy to have that going on all day. This product is comfortably thin and does not have discomfort. I don't feel my inner organs are getting squished like they used to with older spanx products. Mindful of the previous reviews indicating the fabric tore easily, I was careful to put it on, which seemed wise, and worked fine. If you do that, you won't tear it. And If you are anywhere near the edge of the size chart, then definitely size UP to a larger size. You can't squeeze into these things successfully if they are too tight, but they will comfortably smooth out the waist, hips, and bottom bra line area, which is the whole idea of this product. They do make a worthwhile difference. Would have preferred slightly more cost effective, so I only got one each of beige and black. Will likely hand soak and rinse after wearing in order to preserve the newness and protect the fabric in the wash, or put them in a mesh laundry bag and only use delicate cycle.
